Instructions
-
Tie in 20# mono along the bend of the hook to be used as a
looped weedguard.
-
Create the walking legs by palmering a neck hackle at the
bend in the hook shank
-
Create feelers by adding a small clump of bucktail on top of
the palmered neck hackle.
-
Add the mono eyes so that they extend off the rear of the
hook.
-
Add the antennae by tying in two strands of krystal flash.
-
For the swimming legs of the fly, tie in frosted yarn at the
rear of the hook (to be palmered forward later)
-
Take a clump of slinky fiber/angel hair blend to be used as
the body of the fly. Tie in the clump at the rear of the
hook. The clump should extend off the rear of the hook and
off the eye of the hook (to be trimmed later.
-
Palmer the frosted yarn forward to the hook eye and secure.
-
Tie off the blended material body at the hook eye, in a
manner that pulls the material extending off the hook below
the hook eye. Trim to create the tail.
-
Trim the rear portion of blend to create the point head.
-
Trim the palmered frosted yarn to create the short swimming
legs of the shrimp.
-
At the hook eye, tie in the loose end of mono to complete
the looped weedguard.
-
Apply Tuff Fleye glue to the top of the fly to create a hard
carapace shell.
